MySpace and Facebook

29 May 2008

I signed up with Facebook and became one of my daughter's many friends. I felt as though I was intruding on their space but it was fun to see how much fun my daughter was having and to share in her photographs. I found a blog from an Australian school librarian who said that MySpace is blocked in all school libraries. I don't think I would use MySpace or Facebook professionally but it is good to see what the younger generations are up to and how they communicate. I also think it's important for libraries to connect with young people in one way or another.

I use Facebook on a daily basis just to keep in touch with colleagues around theh world. Facebook now has a chat attched to it and I was chatting to Helene Blowers (instigator of the Learning 2.0 program) for quite a while on Friday. I didn't think I would ever use facebook, but here I am...hooked!!
